The Weatherford’s Great Pine Cone Drop
Every New Year’s Eve, downtown Flagstaff comes alive with the beloved Great Pine Cone Drop at the historic Weatherford. Beginning in 1999 to celebrate the hotel’s 100th anniversary and the arrival of the new millennium, the tradition features a giant illuminated pine cone descending from the Weatherford’s rooftop as thousands of spectators gather to count down the new year.
